Before you ask, here's the honest answer
Here's exactly how the free 30-day build works, and what you do and don't get during the trial.
What exactly is the Free Build Trial?
We build the agreed project for you at no upfront cost, and for 30 days you get proper hands-on access to the real, working thing through your OriginForge dashboard - not a mockup, not a video walkthrough. If you like it and want to keep it, you pay the agreed price and we hand it over. If you don't, you walk away having paid nothing.
What's the catch? There must be hidden fees.
There's no catch, but there is a reason we can do this. We only take on a limited number of free builds each month, and we choose which projects to take on based on fit and capacity, rather than first come, first served. When you submit an idea, we'll look at what you're trying to build and decide whether it's something we can take on as part of the Free Build Trial. We scope the project clearly upfront so both sides know exactly what's included before we start. You'll see the full scope and the fixed price we'd charge if you go ahead - in writing - before we build anything. If you need extra features beyond that original scope, we'd discuss that separately, but the core build and the 30-day trial cost you nothing, full stop.
What do I actually get during the 30 days, and where do I access it?
Real, working access to the build through your OriginForge dashboard - you can click through it, test the features, fill in real forms, and use it properly enough to know whether it's right for your business. It's not a locked demo; it's the actual product, running.
Can I take the source code or the finished app away during the trial?
No, not during the trial - and we'd rather be upfront about that than let you assume otherwise. The 30 days are for evaluating the build itself, through the environment we provide. Source code, hosting handover and full ownership of the finished product are part of what you get if you decide to go ahead and pay - not before.
What happens if I decide to go ahead?
You pay the agreed price, and we hand over the finished product on the terms set out in your project agreement for that build - typically that means source code, hosting or deployment support, and the finished software becoming yours. The exact detail depends on the project, which is why it's confirmed in writing for each build rather than promised identically for everyone here.
What happens if I decide not to continue?
Your access to the build simply ends once the trial period is up. Nothing goes live for you beyond that, and there's no invoice, no follow-up fee, nothing you're locked into. It costs you nothing to walk away.
What happens to my data?
Any of your own content, data or business information that you put into the build during the trial stays yours, full stop - that's separate from ownership of the software itself, and we'll take reasonable steps to let you export it if you decide not to continue.
How do I know the quality will actually be good if it's free?
That's the whole point of the model - we're not incentivised to cut corners, because our only way of earning your business afterward is by delivering something that genuinely works for you. If we build something mediocre, we don't get paid. If we build something excellent, you'll want to keep using it and we'll have earned a client. The free trial isn't us doing you a favour - it's us proving the work before asking for a penny.
About working with OriginForge
Questions about the studio itself, beyond the free build trial.
What's the actual process for working with OriginForge?
Describe your idea on the homepage, answer two quick questions about platforms and features, and you'll get a plan back immediately - either a Starter or Growth subscription you can start on the spot, or a note that it needs a proper scope and quote for something bigger. From there, it's a build, a trial or review period, and then ongoing support once you're happy with it.
What platforms do you build for?
iOS, Android, web, and desktop - whichever platforms your users are actually on, not just the ones that are easiest to build for.
Do you build AI features into products?
Yes - assistants, automations, and analysis tools built into your product when they genuinely add something, not AI for its own sake. It's worth knowing this usually carries real ongoing running costs, which is often what moves a project from a subscription-sized build into Studio+ territory.
How much does a project cost if I don't use the free build?
It depends on scope. Smaller, subscription-sized builds start at £19/month (Starter) or £79/month (Growth) for ongoing support and feature planning. Bigger, custom platforms fall under Studio+, which is scoped and quoted individually rather than a fixed monthly price.
What happens after my project is finished?
Software doesn't stop needing attention once it ships - bug fixes, small feature requests, and keeping things running as your usage grows. That's what the Growth tier is built around, though the exact ongoing arrangement depends on what you actually need.
How long does a typical project take?
For a standard Starter or Growth build, we're talking days, not months. Studio+ projects vary a lot by scope, so those get a specific timeline agreed upfront rather than a generic estimate.
